Our concern is for the health and safety of both our residents and guests.
We are monitoring the unfolding COVID and Omicron situations closely and will update this page as our policy changes.
Our gratitude goes to our members and sangha friends who continue to support us as we move through such uncertain times together.

Furnace Mountain is a Buddhist Zen retreat center located on more than 800 acres of rugged woodland (part of the Daniel Boone National Forest) in the Red River Gorge region of eastern Kentucky. During and outside of retreats our residents and guests keep a practice schedule that includes both formal meditation practice and the work of maintaining the buildings, grounds and our large permaculture garden. Our Zen retreats last from one day to three months. Residents and guests occupy rustic log cabins dotted through the forest. We also have a unique, highly secluded Hermitage for solo retreats. |
Furnace Mountain’s mission is toward peace and compassion for all beings through teaching meditation and the principles and practices of Zen Buddhism.
Our path is open and inclusive. The Furnace Mountain community does not discriminate on the basis of national origin, race, disability, sex, gender identification, sexual orientation, culture, belief or faith. We are committed to maintaining an environment where everyone is treated with respect and can expect to be free from any kind of harassment, verbal or physical intimidation, threat, or violence. Furnace Mountain Inc. is a 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization. Donations and gifts are deductible to the full extent allowable under IRS regulations. |
